technical data

Transmission type   Wired
Headphone design (operating principle)   Closed
Headphone impedanceAlso known as nominal impedance. The impedance is the AC resistance of the coils of loudspeakers and headphones in ohms. Since impedance depends on the frequency, it is always specified at a frequency of one kilohertz.   32 ohms
Headphone frequency responseThe frequency response specifies the highest and lowest frequencies reproduced by the acoustic transducer of the headphones.   5 - 35.000 Hz
Nominal sound pressure levelThe acoustical level, the headphone transducer produces to an artificial ear (a measurement device, which simulates a human ear) with an input power of 1 mW (dB/mW @ 500 Hz).   96 dB
ConstructionSound coupling to the ear. A differentiation is made between supraaural headphones, circumaural headphones and in-ear headphones.   Circumaural (around the ear)
Cable & plug   Straight connecting cable with mini-jack plug (3.5 mm) & ¼“ adapter (6.35 mm)

I use the DT 770 Pro for almost anything, when I am sitting at home at my desk. I use it for watching movies, listening to music, recording and editing podcasts. Due to the soft over-ear cups the headphone is never uncomfortable and there is no pressure even after four- or five-hour sessions. The padded headband helps in this case. The sound of this headphone is rather bass heavy (...), but a lot more comfortable than many other pair; the highs and mids remain natural as far as possible.

An advantage of the closed design is that the ambient noise is almost completely attenuated. When I listen to music someone could shout at me and I would not hear them. The same also works vice versa; music can hardly penetrate through the headphone, which is particularly interesting when podcasting.

If I had to draw a conclusion, I would say that I am particularly satisfied with this headphone due to the closed design and comfort. The headphones are very robust, the sound is good (...)

With the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 32 Ohm, the manufacturer has made a subtle adjustment to the popular studio headphone - this time it's a pair of headphones, which can be, in fact, loud enough to be operated on mobile phones, tablets, laptops & Co. With this project the 32-ohm version was sent on a mission which it fulfilled perfectly.

As before, this monitoring system scores mainly with a neutral frequency response, however, with the deep bass and the slightly shy low mids the curve appreciably kicks out, but that’s ok for me and is a welcome variety. The attention to detail is very good the highs are present without being shrill. For a headphone with a closed design, the 32-ohm version scores with a good, reasonably “open” spatial sound; on the virtual stage, which extends far, all of the individual sounds can be heard well and separated from each other.  The pulse fidelity is exemplary in this price range, short stops come with small drawbacks so fast and brisk, that the sound remains very “disciplined” and never tends to unduly soften the sound.

Even the workmanship of this beyerdynamic model deserves a good score. The construction is still robust and it is even difficult with brute force to harm this headphone. Finally, the high comfort of wearing is to be commended with which even long sessions are completely pleasant.

Powerful yet controlled bass
Very detailed highs without being shrill
Very good room image for a closed headphone

Ideal for neutral monitoring
